Artistic immersion in Bubble House
Martinrou: A Living Creative Haven
Once an agricultural farm with a rich and tumultuous history, often scarred by war, Martinrou has, since 1975, been transformed into a vibrant space for artistic expression—a place I brought to life and continue to adorn with my creations.
Today, Martinrou thrives as a recognized sanctuary of beauty, ingenuity, and inspiration. It's not only a performance venue and a center for introducing both children and adults to the arts in all their forms, but also a one-of-a-kind wonderland. With its chapel, ponds, forests, and scenic walks punctuated by glass sculptures, the spirit of creativity is ever-present.
At its heart lies the iconic Bubble House—a singular architectural gem with no equal in Belgium constructed by Philippe Mousset and now officially part of our national heritage. Carefully restored by my own hands, bathed in natural light, it offers a peaceful and inspiring retreat for writers, musicians, and creatives of all kinds. The residence includes a fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms (one with a double bed beneath a white dome, two with single beds), a wood-burning fireplace, and a charming interior with floral touches, a mini-greenhouse, and a sun-filled courtyard.
Beyond offering comfort and tranquility, our aim is to harness the positive energy of both the place and its artists to support and nurture your creative projects.
